Hello everyone, the first period of Intermediate English II was an interesting experience and right now I am going to tell you why:

My classmates and I have been learning a lot of things about English, but I am going to write about the most important, such as: "Tag questions, the use of the auxiliary shall, tag questions with imperatives, simple past and past perfect, cultural awareness, health matters, modals and causatives verbs, etc.”. 

Well, a tag question is a short question added at the end of a negative or positive statement. You can use it to get extra information about something that you want to know or you want to confirm. For example: 

• Sandra is better dancer than Hever, isn´t she?
• She can speak English very well, can´t she? 

There are some special cases, too, for example:

• I am your friend, aren´t I?
• You´ll take an oral exam tomorrow, won´t you?

About the use of the auxiliary shall, we can use it to indicate future action, like the auxiliary will, but with the difference that, the expression shall, is informal English. For example:

• Shall we climb the mountain? (First person plural)
• I shall never forget your promise. (First person singular) 

Also, it can be used to discribes suggestions, promises, predestinations and inevitability, this is, to describe future events.

Sometimes we use tag questions with imperatives:

• We use won´t  for invitations: Take a seat, won´t you?
• We use can, can´t, will, would for orders: Help me, can you?  

Another thing that we have been studying is about Simple Past and Past Perfect:

• We use Simple Past when we just want to tell what happened sometimes in the past: She got up at 06:00 o´clock.
• We use Past Perfect when we want to say what happened before or up to certain time in the past: When she got up I had already woke up.  

      How can you write a formal email?

      What do you know about manners and etiquette?

      What if you have a dental emergency when you´re overseas? 

Well, things like that were the ones that we answered during this period of time, and as you can imagine it was great. Also, we already know how can we make a medical or dental appointment, about types of treatments, etc. 

By the way, we studied how can we use modals and causatives verbs when talking about those kind of topics:

       Modal Verbs: all modals don´t take an "s" on the third person singular, when they are in present they are follow by a verb in its basic form without the "to" and they none can be used without a main verb.

• Must: You must be quiet in classes, mustn't you?
• Be able to: The doctor is able to help you.
• May: She may return late, but you can wait for her here.
• Might: He might feel nervous, but she will be ok. 

       Causative Verbs: they are structures that indicate one thing or person causes another thing or person to do something or be something.

• Have: Teacher Vanessa had us make a Blogger.
• Make: You made me lose the control.
• Get: How can I get you to tell me the true.
• Let: Why don´t you let me help you?
